Amy Carlson’s crime thriller roles, including Blue Bloods

Amy Carlson is well known for her role as Linda Reagan on Blue Bloods, along with many other roles she has taken on in various criminal drama television shows.

After appearing in the critically acclaimed Blue Bloods since its first season, Amy Carlson was left with mixed feelings, much like the audience, after her character was written off the series. Linda Reagan, the wife of Danny Reagan and mother of Jack and Sean, worked as an ER nurse at St. Victor’s Hospital in New York City. The character played a crucial part in the main storyline throughout her run, but was suddenly killed in a helicopter crash that was not shown on camera and not referenced in any prior episode.

In a 2018 interview with Deadline, Amy stated, “I feel [bad] that she dies the way she dies, I did not know they would do that, I was surprised. I wouldn’t have done that. I could’ve shown the death. I guess it would’ve been nice for the fans to see her demise, to be a participant in it, and that was my vote for the fans.” The actress also confirmed that she was not included in any of the decision-making processes on how her character would be written off.

Whilst she recognises her role in Blue Bloods as her big break, the actress has appeared in many other criminal dramas, thus giving her a character profile in this particular genre. In 1993, at the beginning of her career, Amy appeared in Missing Persons, and soon went on to NYPD Blue in 1999 and CSI and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2000.

Between 2000 and 2006, she featured in Third Watch and took on different roles in Law & Order and Law & Order: Trial By Jury. In 2007, she began gaining popularity in NCIS and Criminal Minds, followed by her big role on Blue Bloods from 2010 until 2017. Following her departure from Blue Bloods, Amy landed a role in FBI: Most Wanted, where she currently assumes the role of Jackie Ward.
