Bachelor in Paradise: Why did Jessenia pull Tyler?

Bachelor alum, Jessenia Cruz has suggested that she pulled Tyler Norris for a “friendly conversation” with someone she has never met, but the editors cut the conversation suggestively.

Reality shows have recently come under fire for their recycling of storylines in terms of established reality stars and their previous appearances. The latest show to face this criticism is Bachelor in Paradise after the airing of its latest episode.

More especially, the cliffhanger moment which saw Bachelor alum Jessenia Cruz pull Tyler Norris for a private conversation.

The way the scene was cut seemed to suggest that Jessenia was making a move on Tyler, who already started forming a bond with Brittany Galvin.

But Jessenia spoke out about this, suggesting that this was not the case, and that the interaction was edited to suggest this.

Who are Jessenia Cruz and Tyler Norris?

Jessenia Cruz is the 29-year-old social media marketer who was introduced in the Bachelor Nation through season 25 of The Bachelor, in which Matt James was the bachelor of the season.

Cruz is a former beauty queen who won 2016’s Miss El Paso, she has three dogs, and she was reportedly born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.

Tyler Norris on the other hand is a 26-year-old small business-owner who was first introduced to the viewers in The Bachelorette season 19, with Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey as the bachelorettes.

In his original season, Tyler was eliminated because Rachel broke off their relationship after telling him that she was not ready to meet his family as she still had some reservations.

Bachelor in Paradise: Why did Jessenia pull Tyler?

In the most recent episodes of the Bachelor in Paradise, Jessenia joined the beach as one of the “new women” in split week as the “original women” were sent to a second location.

At the time of her arrival, Jessenia seemed to hit it off with Andrew Spencer. Andrew, however, had initially sparked a romance with Brittany Galvin, who at the time had seemingly already bonded with Tyler Norris during her stay at the second location.

Therefore, when the last episode aired and the “original women” returning to the beach, we can see Brittany interrupting a conversation between Jessenia and Tyler. This was after Jessenia had called Tyler to the side asking to talk to him.

The manner in which the sequence was cut and given that the episode left viewers on a cliffhanger as to find out what Jessenia was saying to Tyler, laid out the assumption that Jessenia was making a move on Tyler.

However, Jessenia immediately took to Twitter to tweet a number of tweets attempting to clarify the matter.

One of her more blatant tweets about the matter stated, “Just having a friendly conversation with someone I literally never met. I was happy to see Brittany in Paradise, and I heard nothing but good things about Tyler. We were all connected at some point too”.

Jessenia suggests foul play by editors

Besides suggesting that the conversation she had drawn Tyler for was innocent, Jessenia’s subsequent tweets also suggested that the editors of the show were attempting to paint her in a specific light which was not true.

She also wrote, “Not them leaving out the majority of the conversation so you guys know what me and Tyler talked about”.

She then went on to suggest that the edit was made deliberately to make viewers want to watch the next episode as she went on to add, “I guess we’ll have to wait till next week, but who knows at this point”.

Jessenia’s first love triangle

Viewers leaned to believe that Jessenia was targeted by the editors of Bachelor in Paradise as this would not have been the first love triangle for the Bachelor alum.

During her season seven appearance on Bachelor in Paradise, Jessenia was in a love triangle with Chris Conran and Alana Milne.

Chris was believed to be the instigator as he kissed Alana in full view of Jessenia. However, afterwards, he made a public apology to Jessenia for how he treated her on the show by writing:

“My past behaviour is not a reflection of who I am or who I want to be, and it was never my intention to maliciously or purposefully hurt anyone on the show”.

Fans react to Jessenia pulling Tyler

After Jessenia broke her silence regarding why she pulled Tyler away from a private conversation, it seems that there were some viewers who believed that the editors had intended to smear Jessenia’s image with how it was edited.

That being said, the edit also seemed to have worked as it painted Jessenia as one of the villains of the season.

This is as neither Tyler nor Brittany have spoken out publicly about their perspectives on the events that occurred in the final moments of the most recent episode of the dating reality show.
