Be the reason someone smiles today

We all need a little cheering up  here and there. Showing kindness makes the people on the receiving end smile and be cheerful.

We all go through pain and suffering, Be the reason someone smiles today. Making someone smile does not only bring joy to the person, but to you as well.

Joy and happiness are good for good health. Very Well Mind (2020) argues that, “A strong link has been found between good health, longevity, and smiling”. They further propose that, “most importantly, studies have shown that just the act of smiling (making the physical facial shapes and movements), whether the result of real joy or an act, can have both short- and long-term benefits on people’s health and wellbeing” (Very Well Mind 2020). Making someone smile is very easy and inexpensive.

Try these tips:

Compliment them

Complimenting someone on either their outfit or hairstyle will boost their mood, make them feel good and brighten their day. You could also point out what you admire about them. It could be their intelligence, personality or appearance.

Tell a funny joke, and I mean a funny joke

Telling jokes will obviously make them laugh. This will help them forget about their stressful life. If you are really bad with humour, share a funny tweet, Facebook or YouTube video with them instead.

Random acts of kindness

Kindness makes the world go round. Write a beautiful note and share it with a stranger. Give birthday cards to your colleagues, friends and family members. There is really so much you could do to show goodwill..

Smiles are definitely contagious

Greet someone with a smile today to cheer them up.

Always remember that smiles brighten some people’s lives. We all need it.
