Carly Waddell and Evan Bass divorce after three years

Carly Waddell and Evan Bass shocked fans in late 2020 when they announced that their three-year marriage had come to an end, resulting in them having joint custody of their two children.

Carly Waddell and Evan Bass were known as one of the fan-favourite couples who met in 2016 on the second season of The Bachelor’s spin-off show, Bachelor In Paradise. The unlikely pair began a whirlwind romance and wed in 2017, shortly before welcoming their first child, Bella. Thereafter, Carly and Evan showcased the progression of their relationship on social media, which saw them having a second child, Charlie, in early 2020.

Their surprising breakup was announced in late December 2020, through a joint statement issued to People magazine. They stated, “We have made the difficult decision to separate. We will always cherish our time together and continue to have the utmost respect for one another as we focus on what’s best for the future of our family.”

Whilst Evan has remained quiet since the announcement, Carly has been documenting her journey on her YouTube channel, where she showed her vulnerability to her subscribers. In a video shared in early January 2021, Carly opened up about the split, and explained that even though they tried for a long time, she was tired of being the only one who wanted to make their marriage work.

She stated, “We tried for a really long time to make it work. We focused a lot more on the kids than we focused on ourselves and, ultimately, I think that was probably our biggest downfall. The kids came at the top of the pyramid and we never put ourselves at the top. I always told him that if he wanted out then it was his call, because I’m just a person that would never be out. So, what are you going to do? If somebody doesn’t want to be with you, they don’t want to be with you.”
