Did Angie’s List buy HomeAdvisor?

Angie’s List acquired HomeAdvisor in 2017, and subsequently merged the services and offerings of both companies to launch ANGI Homeservices Inc.

Angie’s List was founded by William S. Oesterle and Angie Hicks in 1995, and was created due to their search for a reliable construction contractor in suburban Columbus, Ohio. The company then expanded to offer ratings and suggestions on the best service providers around the country, further reaching its peak in 2016. HomeAdvisor was developed in 1998, and aimed to connect homeowners with pre-screened, local service professionals to offer home improvement, maintenance and remodelling services.

In 2017, IAC announced that it had agreed to acquire Angie’s List for $781.4 million, which led to it merging Angie’s List and HomeAdvisor and renaming the merged company as ANGI Homeservices, retaining the Angie’s List logo and stock history. Currently, ANGI Homeservices offers services from both Angie’s List and HomeAdvisor, whilst still being predominantly owned by Angie’s List.
