At the end of Euphoria season 2, Fez was about to be arrested before his brother was killed, now it is uncertain whether he will go to jail.
Euphoria was fast approaching the three-year mark when it released its highly anticipated second season.
This season did not disappoint in that it continued to tell a gripping story filled with unexpected twists and turns right up until the end of the season.
One of the biggest cliffhangers after the season two finale is what the fate of main character, Fez, will be since season two ended with Fez facing arrest.
This was, however, derailed when his brother Ashtray “Ash” fired at the arresting cops. As a result, whether Fez will go to jail or not remains in the air until season three.
What is Euphoria?
Euphoria is the HBO Max hit original teen-drama series that first premiered on the channel in 2019. The series was created by the head writer, director, and showrunner – Sam Levinson.
The three-time Primetime Emmy award winning series shares its premise as, “A look at life for a group of high school students as they grapple with issues of drugs, sex, and violence.”
The series initially began with Zendaya, who played Rue, being the title character and the executive producer of the series.
However, in season two, the series included more of the lives of the supporting main cast, namely, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie, Alexa Demie as Maddy, Jacob Elordi as Nate, and Angus Cloud as Fezco “Fez.”
Does Fez from Euphoria go to jail?
Season two’s finale All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name saw Fez’s storyline come to a head. This is because in season two, the police officers were onto Fez and Ash after the death of Mouse, and Custer doubled as an informant for the police.
During the season two finale, police officers were ready to arrest Fez and Ash, with Fez ready to take the blame for killing Mouse and Custer when in actual fact, they were killed by Ash in a panic when the cops were about to kick down the door.
While Fez was willing to take the blame, Ash locked himself in the bathroom and fired shots. In the process he wounded Fez in the gut and was eventually gunned down by the police.
Ash’s death left the possibility of Fez’s imprisonment up in the air, as the only person he would have taken the fall for died.
Additionally, all the witnesses to his crimes were also dead. All of which resulted in conspiracies that in season three, Fez might not go to jail.
Conspiracies on why Fez will not go to jail
With season two of Euphoria leaving Fez’s fate unresolved, fans have speculated plot points that suggest he will not be going to jail.
The biggest of which is that the person responsible for the deaths of Mouse and Custer, Ash, is dead. Therefore, he could inconsequently pin the deaths on him.
Moreover, at the time of his arrest, he did not keep drugs in the house anymore, therefore, he cannot be implicated for drug possession.
However, the biggest conspiracy yet was inspired by Faye’s words, which suggested pinning everything on drug “kingpin”, Laurie, and turning into an informant for the police, guaranteeing him immunity from going to jail. All of the above is yet to be confirmed in season three.
Will there be a Euphoria season 3?
HBO Max confirmed a third season of Euphoria after the first episode of season two aired in January 2022.
The decision to renew the teen-drama series for a new season was prompted by the audience engagement with the series, which, after episode one, was reportedly more than that of the Game of Thrones’ series finale.
Furthermore, season two of Euphoria had allegedly doubled in viewership numbers since the first season. Therefore, it can be said that it was a no-brainer that HBO Max would renew the popular flagship series.
When can we expect Euphoria season 3?
HBO Max may have confirmed season three of Euphoria at the beginning of season two, but that does not warrant any potential release date for the season.
However, this time around, a delay will not be because of the pandemic, but primarily due to the fact that its leading star, Zendaya, has become a bonafide A-lister since the first season of the series.
Zendaya is already marked to work on other film projects including Dune 2 and the upcoming romantic-comedy, Challengers. In light of this, the earliest projected release date could be 2024.
Final thoughts
Euphoria has a loyal and ever-growing fan base which is evident in that the series only grew in its popularity with the release of season two, released after an almost three-year hiatus since season one in 2019.
Season two did not disappoint, giving fans unexpected plot twists like the biggest cliffhanger, which is whether in season three, Fez will go to jail or not.
This is uncertain since all the witnesses to the crimes he committed died, except for Faye who is seemingly in his corner and introduced to him the idea of pinning everything on drug kingpin, Laurie.
