EastEnders: Does Kheerat go to prison?

EastEnders: Does Kheerat go to prison?

In EastEnders, Kheerat does decide to take the fall for his mother, Suki, and is arrested for the murder of Ranveer as a result of his confession.

EastEnders has always been a popular show and despite the setbacks that production faced during 2020, the show is still popular.

One of the reasons for this is the show’s intriguing storylines, like in the twist in the 10 November 2022 episode, where Kheerat turns himself in for a murder that he did not commit, and is arrested.

Do people still watch EastEnders?

EastEnders was originally created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland for BBC One in 1985 and after about 6589 episodes, many people have wondered whether the show is still being watched as much as it used to be.

As a comparison, the very first episode of EastEnders that ever aired on television garnered around 17.35 million viewers.

In fact, the National Grid reportedly prepares for the end of each episode of EastEnders over the years, as the power consumption across the United Kingdom surges when everyone boils their kettles right as the show ends.

Like many other popular television shows, EastEnders saw a drastic decline in their viewership following the slow production schedules during the COVID-19 lockdown periods in 2020. However, the show remains among the top three British soap operas.

EastEnders: Does Kheerat go to prison?

One of the ways that EastEnders is trying to attract new viewers is by writing unexpected and engaging plotlines that intrigue viewers enough to keep them coming back to watch new episodes.

The EastEnders episode which aired on 10 November 2022 is a great example of such a storyline that kept fans of the show on the edges of their seats throughout.

During this episode, Kheerat Panesar, who is played by Jaz Deol on the show, makes the snap decision to take the fall for his mother, Suki Panesar, who was being detained because she was suspected of murdering Ranveer Gulati.

It is evident in this episode that Kheerat is at his wit’s end about what to do in order to free his mother, and after confessing his plan to his siblings, Ash and Vinny, and visiting his girlfriend Stacy, he decides that he will turn himself in, even though he had nothing to do with the murder.

Near the end of the episode, Kheerat is arrested by the police in a very emotional moment where all of his loved ones look on as he is driven out of the square.

Since the show’s creators have confirmed that this episode was Kheerat’s last appearance on the show, fans can assume that he subsequently ends up going to prison following his arrest.

Did anyone try to stop Kheerat from falsely confessing to committing a murder?

Although Kheerat’s plan to confess to Ranveer’s murder would allow Suki to go free, she is still one of the main people who try to convince him to reconsider his plan.

Suki went through a range of different emotions after finding out what Kheerat planned to do.

Initially, she slapped Kheerat in order to get him to agree that he would not confess, but he later obviously confesses anyway and then the two share a sad moment of embrace right before Kheerat is arrested.

Stacey, Kheerat’s girlfriend, was also very distraught when Kheerat told her of his plan to turn himself in.

However, after their discussion, it seems as though Stacey at least understood why Kheerat felt like that this was what he needed to do to save his mother and she was not angry at him for it.

If Kheerat had nothing to do with the murder, then who killed Ranveer?

Suki was initially questioned by the police as a suspect in Ranveer’s murder because Ravi and Nina had video evidence of her striking him after he attempted to sexually assault her.

Suki believes that she was the one who killed Ranveer, but in actuality, it was Ravi who killed his adoptive father when he and Suki were trying to get rid of his body.

Will Kheerat ever come back to the show?

Although some fans were still a bit unsure about Kheerat’s fate at the end of this episode, the BBC has released an official statement  confirming that this will be last that viewers will see of Kheerat in the show and that the actor, Jaz Deol, has left EastEnders for good after this episode.

However, it is still somewhat of an injustice that Kheerat is serving a prison sentence off-screen for a murder that he had nothing to do with, and fans hope that Suki will uncover some of the secrets behind this murder moving forward.
