How Jenna Dewan handles online hate

Jenna Dewan made headlines after she opened up about the struggles she faced after welcoming her daughter, as reports painted Channing Tatum in a negative light.

Jenna Dewan has recently clarified comments she made about her ex-husband, Channing Tatum’s absence after the birth of their daughter, Everly. The actress and dancer made headlines after she opened up on the Dear Gabby podcast about the struggles she faced after welcoming her daughter.

Consequently, reports circulated which painted Channing in a negative light. However, Dewan took to Twitter on Tuesday, 3 August 2021, to address the situation. She stated, “It is unfortunate that countless media outlets have taken an important conversation on a woman’s experience with postpartum issues and pulled quotes to make it appear that I was slamming by daughter’s father, something I would never do.”

The statement continued, “As two working parents, we both faced challenges at the time, but I speak only for myself and not about him. Anyone who actually listens to the interview, something I encourage everyone to do, will clearly see that my words have been distorted for clicks and to push false, salacious gossip with no regard for the actual people involved, or the message intended.”

Dewan claimed, in the podcast, that her then husband was not available for the most part due to his busy work schedule, which left her, Everly, and her doula all by themselves traveling at six weeks. She continued, “I did have her on set with me constantly. It was really difficult. It was like, I just never stopped. I was breastfeeding, I was pumping, I was without a partner, I mean it was just craziness.”

According to People, Tatum believes that Dewan’s comments were deconstructed. Tatum reportedly made sure that both Dewan and Everly were taken care of after Dewan gave birth. At the time, Dewan and Tatum were living in London, where he was working on his film, Jupiter Ascending, but Dewan had to fly to Canada to work on a project of her own. For the trip, Tatum allegedly chartered a private plane and rented a home in Vancouver for his family.

Tatum and Dewan were married for 10 years before their divorce. Dewan is now engaged to Steve Kazee, with whom she shares a son.
