How to let go of someone

Having someone in your life who you can always count on and has your best interest at heart, is a nice feeling.

You try to convince yourself that they will forever be in your life and nothing can come between the two of you. It might happen that you break up, someone close to you dies or moves to another country. How do you even begin to pick up the pieces and move on?

The question is what happens when things do not work out and you must let go? It is a difficult time, and a lot will be happening in your life. Having one of your fears come true will be overwhelming. However, at times we need to let go of the people we care deeply about.

If you want to move on you will need to act now and deal with things head on.

Cut all ties with them

This means that you will need to stop contacting them. If it is necessary that you do, have a friend do it on your behalf until you are ready to deal with them yourself. The truth is that it will not happen overnight and there will be challenges along the way.

Be in touch with your feelings

I know that this must be hard for you but holding back and acting strong will not help you heal. You need to allow yourself to be vulnerable and accept the situation. Cry if you must and not hold anything back.

Try to forgive that person and yourself

Sometimes we blame ourselves for things that we could not have changed even if we wanted to. Forgive yourself and that person.

Reach out to family and friends

People deal with things differently, but if being with the closest people in your life helps, do so. Allow them to support you during this time.
