Is CLC disbanded?

CLC’s Yujin revealed that Cube Entertainment is shutting down CLC’s promotional activities and comeback chances; however, Cube Entertainment has yet to announce the disbandment of CLC.

CLC is a South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment. The band debuted in 2015 with their extended play (EP) record, First Love. The group originally consisted of five members; Yeeun, Sorn, Seungyeon, Yujin and Seunghee. However, Elkie and Eunbin were added to the group with the release of their third EP, Refresh, in February 2016. The band currently consists of six members, as Elkie announced her departure in February 2021.

Yujin recently made a statement regarding the band, on the currently-airing idol-survival show, Girls Planet 999. The statement caused fans to take to Twitter to express their thoughts on the current situation.

On the second episode of Girls Planet 999, fans were able to witness Yujin perform her own version of HyunA’s Bubble Pop. It was a pleasing sight for fans because HyunA previously worked at Cube Entertainment and had written lyrics for CLC’s Hobgoblin.

However, during Yujin’s one-on-one interview, she revealed some shocking news about CLC. Yujin admitted that Cube Entertainment is shutting down all of CLC’s promotional activities and comeback chances. This means that CLC has possibly disbanded and is only under Cube due to contractual obligations.

The news sparked a lot of heavy hearts, and fans immediately took to social media. Fans did not only comfort Yujin, but also cheered her on for the duration of Girls Planet 999. One fan stated, “I am so sad. I was just a casual fan of CLC, but this breaks my heart. Rooting for Yujin!”

Alongside the support, many fans criticized Cube Entertainment for its alleged treatment of CLC, commenting on the lack of promotion of the group, as well as the silence on its part regarding CLC’s status.

Despite the news, fans are still hoping that the group may have a chance to come back. Cube Entertainment has yet to release an official statement revealing the disbandment of CLC. On the other hand, Yujin scored an all-pass during her audition for Girls Planet 999. This means that K-pop fans will be able to catch the idol on her journey to the finals.
