Impractical Jokers is not scripted, as the hosts and comedians of the show have reiterated numerous times prior to the beginning of season 10.
Impractical Jokers is truTV’s flagship show that first premiered on the channel in 2011. The show is currently promoting its tenth milestone season.
However, this season will be different following co-host Joe Gatto’s exit, which fans have been polarised about.
The premise of Impractical Jokers is, “Comedians Joe Gatto, James ‘Murr’ Murray, Brian ‘Q’ Quinn, and Sal Vulcano are real-life best friends who love challenging each other to the most outrageous dares and stunts ever caught on hidden camera.”
The premise has led to the ongoing question about whether the show is scripted, which the hosts have repeatedly denied publicly.
Which Impractical Joker is the richest?
Impractical Jokers is hosted by childhood friends and comedians, Joe Gatto, James ‘Murr’ Murray, Brian ‘Q’ Quinn, and Sal Vulcano.
As such, their net worths as the hosts have been estimated as the same. However, with regard to their individual net worth, it is speculated that Murr is the richest of the Impractical Jokers.
Murr’s net worth in 2020 was reportedly just over $1 million, due to his background as a producer with over 14 credits besides his executive producer position in the truTV flagship show.
Moreover, Murr is a two-time children’s book author besides, a stand-up comedian, and a host. The latest book he released was Area 51 Interns in March 2022.
Is Impractical Jokers scripted?
Since Impractical Jokers is set to premiere its milestone tenth season in the coming few days, it is surprising that many still question the authenticity of the show.
However, this is also understandable, considering that the comedians are still able to capture surprised expressions of fans and are sometimes not even recognised when they are not in costumes or makeup disguises.
However, through the years, the hosts have all attested to the authenticity of the show.
The most recent host to have asserted the show’s authenticity and the logistics of getting honest reactions from unsuspecting members of the public is Joe Gatto.
In a 2018 interview with Life and Style magazine, Gatto affirmed the authenticity of the show and the reactions of those being pranked in the skit, stating, “…the show works thanks to that genuine hesitation and fear, dealing with a stranger who doesn’t know they’re on a hidden camera show. That’s the magic of the show.”
Moreover, Gatto explained the logistics that go into ensuring that the reactions are genuine, saying, “If anyone recognizes us, we just shuffle them along and pick somebody else — there are so many people in the city.” Going on to add, “If someone recognizes us, they’re not on our show.”
Moreover, he credited the production team for steering fans away from exposing the pranks to unsuspecting people during production.
Joe said, “We have our production team that helps us swoop in and Liam Neeson these people, like (in) Taken — (they) pull them off to the side.”
Why did Joe Gatto leave Impractical Jokers?
By the time Joe announced his departure from Impractical Jokers on New Year’s Eve of 2021, he had been with the show for nine seasons, since its inception. The news came as a surprise to many, since Gatto was considered one of the anchors of the show.
Taking to Instagram, Gatto penned a caption that read: “Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”
He added, “They say that laughter is the best medicine, and I hope I’ve been able to provide some of that over the last decade. Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, particularly in these weird and difficult times we find ourselves.”
Who will replace Joe Gatto on Impractical Jokers?
Joe Gatto will not be replaced by one permanent host on Impractical Jokers, but the upcoming season will feature celebrity guest hosts that will grace each episode of the tenth season.
Confirmed celebrity guest hosts that will be part of the new season include David Cross, Chris Jericho, Brooke Shields, Colin Jost, Method Man, Rob Riggle, and Julian Bell.
The fact that he has not been permanently replaced has left room for the possibility of Gatto returning in the eleventh season.
When is season 10 of Impractical Jokers?
After Gatto’s exit, Impractical Jokers returned with a special episode on Saturday, 2 April 2022 following the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
Though it was believed to be the first episode of season 10, which featured Eric Andre as a guest host, it was confirmed the episode was part of season nine.
