Salvage Hunters wrapped its sixteenth season in March 2022 and shows no signs of concluding as the series is already canvassing for its seventeenth season.
Antique and artefact, treasure hunt, reality-format shows have been successful and popular shows on television. The show is one of the most popular of these kinds of shows as it has remained a flagship show for Quest TV since it premiered in 2011.
With 11 years under its belt, the premise of Salvage Hunters is, “Meet modern-day treasure hunter Drew Pritchard.
With demanding customers, high turnover, and one of the biggest decorative salvage yards in the UK, Drew is constantly on the road, crisscrossing the country in search of derelict gems and forgotten remnants.”
In March 2022, the show wrapped its sixteenth season and has already begun canvassing for new locations for its upcoming season.
Did John Tee leave Salvage Hunters?
Salvage Hunters hinges on modern-day treasure hunter Drew Pritchard. However, since 2016, the show has shifted to focus on the friendship of Pritchard and his best friend and trusted driver, John Tee.
Before 2016, Tee, as he is fondly referred to, was not credited on the show as a co-host. However, after the season 16 run, fans fell in love with their friendship and the show decided to enlist Tee as a co-host.
However, since it has expanded with other subsidiary shows like Salvage Hunters: The Restorers, it was believed that Tee had left the show, but Tee is just not involved in the other shows like Pritchard is.
Is Salvage Hunters still being made?
Salvage Hunters does not show signs of ending anytime soon. This is because the show is not only popular in the United Kingdom (UK), but has also garnered an international following due to its availability on paid subscription video-on-demand platforms like Discovery+ and Curve Media TV.
Recently, the show concluded its most recent season, the sixteenth season. In a post on Instagram prior to the special season finale, the show revealed the special guest who would be joining the season finale, sharing:
“Tonight at 21:00 on Quest, in a very special episode of Salvage Hunters, Drew and Tee are joined by the legendary Johnny Vegas! Having studied art and ceramics at college, and with a passion for collecting everything from quirky collectables to fairground art, fellow salvage enthusiast Johnny is keen to take his buying and knowledge of the trade to the next level.”
The sixteenth season wrapped in March 2022, but in the same month the show already confirmed that they are in the works canvassing for new locations for Pritchard and John Tee to visit in the upcoming seventeenth season.
Moreover, though the sixteenth season has concluded, Drew Pritchard is still a regular face on our screens.
This is as, after the conclusion of the latest season of Salvage Hunters, Salvage Hunters: The Restorers kicked off its new season on Quest TV, Curve Media TV, and Discovery+.
However, if you are a fan of John Tee, you will have to wait for a new season to see him return.
Where is Salvage Hunters headed next?
Salvage Hunters did not waste time canvassing for new locations to visit in and around the United Kingdom.
In March 2022, the first call to action was made with a post caption that read, “Drew and Tee are heading to Dorset! From old factories to stately homes, antique shops to auctions and fairs. We are looking for the very best of what Dorset has to offer.”
The post encourages interested parties looking to be part of the upcoming season to reach out to the team.
When will season 17 of Salvage Hunters return?
Season 17 of the show will probably be shot during the second half of 2022, if the previous season’s shooting and airing schedule is anything to go by. Season 16 production started in November 2021, which was the same time that season 15 concluded its television-run.
Therefore, we can estimate that season 17 will also be released in February 2023, to maintain a standardised roll-out schedule following the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2021.
When does Salvage Hunters air?
Salvage Hunters season 16 aired every Thursdays on Quest TV at 21:00 and is available on Curve Media, Discovery (UK), and Discovery+.
However, it is unclear whether this will remain the airing day subsequently to being made available on the paid subscription video-on-demand platforms.
Currently, it is also still unclear whether the channel will maintain the same weekly date and time showing when the new season’s release date is confirmed.
