Luke Bryan misses first American Idol live show after testing positive for COVID-19

Luke Bryan was replaced by Paula Abdul on the latest episode of American Idol, after revealing that he tested positive for COVID-19 and was at home in quarantine.

Luke Bryan was forced to miss out on the first live round of American Idol’s nineteenth season, which aired on Sunday, 11 April 2021. Earlier in the day, the judge tweeted that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and was at home in quarantine.

He further clarified that he was doing well and not experiencing many of the severe symptoms, but would be remaining at home until he got a negative result. He stated, “I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live American Idol show. I tested positive for COVID but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.”

American Idol retweeted Luke’s tweet and announced that Paula Abdul would serve as the replacement whilst Luke is away. Paula joined resident judges, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, who offer advice and judgement after each live performance.
