Ryder James regains his TikTok account after being banned

Ryder James’ TikTok account was randomly banned in late January 2021, after he was reported for supposedly not adhering to the community guidelines.

Ryder James is a well-known media personality who gained prominence on TikTok during 2019 and 2020. The 14-year-old internet celebrity is known for posting videos which show him lip synching, dancing and performing skits. He has amassed over two million followers on the platform, and has a predominantly pre-teen audience.

On Monday, 25 January 2021, fans were outraged to find out that Ryder’s TikTok account was banned from the app, meaning that all of his videos and followers had been lost. TikTok reportedly stated, “This account was banned due to multiple Community Guideline violations.” Many of his fans were confused by the ban, as the creator had only posted PG13 content that was suitable for a young audience.

Fans inundated him with questions on his Instagram page and informed him about the situation. They continued to tag TikTok in their posts, in the hopes that the platform would be alerted about the unfair banning of Ryder’s account. The TikTok star also took to his Instagram Stories to thank his supporters for helping him in trying to retrieve his account, stating, “As of right now, I do not have any backup accounts. I am trying to figure this out.”

Ryder’s mother, Natalie Murchison, also commented on the situation on her Instagram Stories, stating, “I want everyone to know that we are getting your messages! We have no clue why this happened. We are sending multiple emails to TikTok that this was done inaccurately. All Ryder does is spread positivity!!”

On Thursday, 28 January 2021, Ryder’s TikTok page was unbanned and all of his content was restored. He simply welcomed his followers back with a video of him lip synching, and has been posting videos consistently ever since. Neither TikTok nor Ryder have commented further on the matter. Currently, there has been no official word on what led to his page being banned.
