Shortly after confirming their breakup, Saweetie and Quavo were caught on an elevator camera in what appeared to be a heated physical altercation.
American rapper, Saweetie, and Migos member, Quavo, officially started dating back in 2019. Quavo saw Saweetie on Instagram and direct messaged her. The pair soon became a Hollywood power couple and dated for two years.
In early March 2021, fans noticed that Saweetie and Quavo unfollowed each other on Instagram, soon after, rumors quickly spread about their breakup. On Friday, 19 March 2021, Saweetie took to Twitter to confirm her split from Quavo, stating, “I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.” This tweet ignited speculation that Quavo cheated on Saweetie.
On the same day, Saweetie expressed that she had checked out emotionally and had walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. She added that she was excited for the new chapter of elevation. In response to Saweetie’s tweets, Quavo also took to Twitter and stated, “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.”
On Tuesday, 30 March 2021, TMZ posted a video that gave fans further insight into their relationship. In the video, Quavo and Saweetie can be seen fighting in an elevator at what is believed to be her Hollywood apartment complex. The incident is speculated to have taken place in 2020. Saweetie was the first to swing her arm at Quavo, before he pulled her into the elevator and wrestled her to the floor. Saweetie remained on the floor until the elevator reached a new level where they both exited. In a statement to Billboard on Friday, 2 April 2021, Quavo stated, “It wasn’t as bad as it looks, and it’s all in the past.”
