Uncle Aaron eventually became the Prowler in the Earth-1610 version of things because he always had a natural penchant towards committing crime and it eventually became his job.
In the first Into the Spider-Verse film, we can gather that Miles Morales’s beloved Uncle Aaron turned to crime at a young age.
He eventually became the Prowler as a result of these questionable morals and an extra push from the Kingpin.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Why did Uncle Aaron become Prowler?
Everyone knew that there would be a few unexpected twists and turns in the second installment of the Spider-Verse films, but few fans expected to see the Prowler make a comeback.
In Into the Spider-Verse, it is revealed that Miles Morales’s beloved ‘cool’ uncle, Aaron Davis, was actually his biggest adversary, the Prowler, all along.
In this Earth-1610 version of events, Uncle Aaron turns to a life of crime when he is still extremely young and eventually became a hit man and enforcer for the Kingpin, which literally made crime his main job.
Interestingly enough, this somewhat tragic backstory is exactly what drives the Miles in Earth-42 to become the Prowler under the questionable guidance of his version of Uncle Aaron.
Though he always seems to lean towards committing crime when times get tough, no matter which universe we find him in.
Is Uncle Aaron a good person?
When we were first introduced to Aaron in Into the Spider-Verse, he seemed like a laid-back, cool guy who truly cared about Miles.
However, his love for his nephew does not negate the fact that he was entirely willing to kill Spider-Man (a child) before he knew his true identity. He was even known as one of the most ruthless enforcers in Earth-1610, before that.
The Jefferson-Aaron dichotomy
In the films, Jefferson and Aaron’s relationship is not really explored beyond the fact that they used to tag and spray paint buildings together, and eventually drifted apart.
However, if you dive deeper into the lore, you will discover that Aaron actually drew Jefferson into a life of crime, for which the two eventually went to jail.
In either version of events, there is a clear defining moment where Jefferson decides to reform and chooses to build up his community instead. But Aaron continues to turn to a life of crime.
Why did Miles become the Prowler in Earth-42?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse revealed quite shockingly that in Earth-42, it is actually Miles who becomes the Prowler (when he is left without a father figure), instead of Aaron.
However, some fans still argue that Aaron’s questionable morals inadvertently led Miles down this path and that he is still somewhat to blame for the Prowler, even in this universe.
