New shows are being released in June 2022 and below we share our top three picks of shows that are premiering in the coming Sundays of the month.

Watching television on a Sunday is one of the most family-oriented traditions globally. This is especially poignant with regard to primetime television viewing, as it usually marks the last moments of leisure that families spend together before preparing for the week of work or school.

As such, there is competition about which shows to watch during this popular timeslot.

If you have not found your ideal viewing option or you are looking for a new show to watch, there are a number of new shows premiering in the coming weeks of June 2022, which you can watch to gauge if you will be returning to the series, or you can continue your search for new programming.

What is the most popular Sunday night TV show right now?

As of Wednesday, 31 May 2022, digital media company, Ranker, revealed that the most-watched Sunday show is currently the comedic action-drama series, Barry.

Co-created by title character, Bill Hader, and producer, Alec Berg, the premise of the series is, “A hit man from the Midwest moves to Los Angeles and gets caught up in the city’s theatre arts scene.”

The current season of the show, season three, first premiered in April 2022, and has aired six episodes. The upcoming seventh episode is titled Candy asses, which aired on Sunday, 5 June 2022 at 22:00 Eastern Time (ET) on HBO and HBO Max.

Our list will look at television series premiering in the coming weeks on television on a Sunday. However, that does not mean there is no other form of new content premiering at the same time.

For instance, if you are looking for an “ol’ time favourite” on Sunday, 5 June 2022, The Great Food​​ Truck Race returned with its fifteenth season.

The premise of the reality-format competition is, “A number of food trucks in a competition to see who earns the most money, with the lowest earning truck kicked off at the end of each episode.”

The new season starts airing on the Food Network and Discovery+ at 21:00 ET/PT (Pacific Time).

Alternatively, if you are looking for a docuseries to watch, especially in light of the popularity of the Julia Roberts and Sean Penn fronted series, Gaslit, then you might be interested in revisiting the CNN produced docuseries, Watergate: Blueprint for a Scandal, which began airing at 21:00 ET/PT on the fifth of June.

The docuseries is quite anticipated as it features John Dean, who finally speaks on the scandal over 50 years after it happened.

Below are more fictional and new television shows premiering on the Sundays of the coming weeks.

1. Dark Winds

One of the hotly anticipated television thriller drama series, Dark Winds, will premiere on AMC on Sunday, 12 June 2022 at 21:00 ET/PT.

The premise of the series is, “Follows Leaphorn and Chee, two Navajo police officers in the 1970s Southwest that are forced to challenge their own spiritual beliefs when they search for clues in a double murder case.”

The series was created by executive producer, Graham Roland, who is known for creating Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. It features actors Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon in the title roles of Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, respectively.

2. Becoming Elizabeth

If you are looking for a fictional period drama to indulge in, then prepare for Becoming Elizabeth airing on the STARZ network.

The first season premieres on Sunday, 12 June 2022 at 21:00 ET/PT and its official trailer was released in April 2022 to build anticipation for the period drama.

The premise of the series is, “Elizabeth Tudor, an orphaned teenager who becomes embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court on her journey to secure the crown.” In the title role is Fury actress Alicia von Rittberg who plays Elizabeth I.

3. Mathis Family Matters

If you are a fan of court reality shows of the early 2000s, you probably know Judge Greg Mathis.

The judge is now coming to E! with his new reality show, Mathis Family Matters, which the channel describes as, “Mathis Family Matters will also dive into the careers, relationships, personalities and off-the-wall dynamics of his loved ones too, because for the first time in 15 years, all four kids are all living in the same city.”
