The Grand Tour: Lochdown special

Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May’s “Lochdown” special will feature the trio as they face multiple car challenges, while being forced to deal with COVID-19 lockdown problems.

Jeremy Clarkson took to social media on Thursday, 15 July 2021, to share the new trailer of The Grand Tour, captioning it, “The first of my news announcements this week is…”

The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown follows Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May as they take a trip around Scotland during the COVID-19 pandemic, in 1970s American cars.

In the trailer, the hosts can be seen driving through Edinburgh, as they get behind the wheels of a Lincoln Continental, as driven by Jock Ewing of Dallas Fame; a Cadilac Coupe De Vile, as driven by Elvis; and a Buick Riveria, as driven by Clint Eastwood.

However, the American cars cause some problems as the trio struggle to fit the cars into the narrow streets. In the trailer, Clarkson can be seen struggling to climb out of his car window.

The special will feature multiple challenges for the three men, just like the episodes that preceded it. The trailer hints that the hosts have to build a homemade bridge in order to cross the Hebridean sea, while also forced to deal with lockdown problems.

In the trailer, Clarkson can be heard saying, “Apparently there is some kind of virus going around. We are not allowed to stay in a hotel even if we can find one.”

However, it appears that the trio was able to come up with a solution, as they are subsequently seen dragging mobile homes around attached to the back of their cars.

However, this solution only makes their journey more challenging and presents Hammond with some problems.

Furthermore, in the trailer, the hosts are seen enjoying a hilarious showdown with racecar driver, Abbie Eaton, on the racetrack, as well as staging an epic Cold War shootout between the worst American and Soviet cars ever made.

The Grand Tour: Lochdown special will exclusively premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, 30 July 2021.
