The Witcher has concluded production for the second season of the successful Netflix series, with the new season expected to premiere in late 2021.
Netflix shared a YouTube video on Friday, 2 April 2021, confirming that The Witcher had wrapped up production for season two. The popular series revealed that now that it has finished with filming, the post-production phase has commenced. As such, the new episodes are set to be ready by late 2021 or very early 2022. Showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, stated, “It’s hard to believe that it has been over a year since we kicked off this season in typical Witcher fashion… in a freezing cold forest in the middle of the night. Since then, we’ve shot for 158 days with at least one unit, sometimes two, sometimes three.”
She explained that whilst they were filming, they made sure that all cast members were decked out in PPE to ensure their safety. She expanded on the challenges faced by production during the pandemic, but expressed overall contentment with what they were able to achieve.
