Even though the first season of Wednesday was popular and ended with many shocking reveals, there are still some unanswered questions about Laurel Gates, Tyler, and Wednesday’s stalker.
Netflix’s new series, Wednesday, has become one of the most-watched shows on the platform since its release.
However, even though fans have been impressed with the show so far, they still have many unanswered questions about Laurel Gates, Tyler, and Wednesday’s stalker, which will hopefully be answered in the second season of the show.
How popular was the first season of Wednesday?
The first season of Netflix’s new series, Wednesday, premiered on the platform on 23 November 2022.
The show explores the life of young Wednesday Addams as she tries to adjust to her new life at Nevermore Academy while simultaneously investigating a mystery at the school.
The show initially garnered a lot of attention because Tim Burton was one of its main writers and producers and because it featured many notable cast members like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, and several more.
This is likely why the show has been streamed for 341.23 million hours since its release.
This means that the show broke the previous record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language TV series on Netflix, which was previously set by Stranger Things season 4, which reached 335.01 million viewed hours in its first week.
Wednesday: Unanswered questions
Part of the reason why fans of the show keep coming back to watch more episodes of Wednesday is because of the Nancy Drew-esque murder mystery at the core of the show’s plot.
Even though the real identity of the Hyde monster and his master’s evil plan was revealed by the end of the first season, fans of the show still had a few unanswered questions, which they hope will be answered and explored in the second season of the show.
Although there are many questions that may flow through your mind while watching the first season of Wednesday, such as “what is Gomez’s outcast ability?” or “will Bianca join her mother’s cult?” and even “Why does Wednesday have such a strained relationship with Morticia?”, the questions that the Wednesday fans want answered most of all revolve more primarily around the central plot of the show.
This includes questions such as the following:
- Is Laurel Gates really dead and was she just a pawn all along?
- Will Tyler escape and what happened to his mother?
- Who is Wednesday’s stalker?
Is Laurel Gates really dead and was she just a pawn all along?
By the final “A Murder of Woes” episode of the first season, it was revealed that Ms Marilyn Thornhill, who was the single normie teacher at Nevermore Academy, was actually Laurel Gates in disguise.
She also reveals her evil master plan in which she had taken control of the Hyde monster to resurrect Jericho’s founding father, Joseph Crackstone, because of her deep-seated hatred for Nevermore and the outcasts.
After Laurel is subdued by Eugene and his bees, Wednesday “deals” with Laurel Gates off-screen.
However, with all of the supernatural powers and conspiracies that have been showcased on the show, viewers are unsure about whether Laurel was really killed if her body was never shown, and it is definitely possible that she could come back if Wednesday’s suspicion about her just being a pawn in someone else’s plan is correct.
Will Tyler escape and what happened to his mother?
One of the most shocking revelations in the first season of Wednesday happens when Wednesday discovers that her love interest, Tyler, is actually the Hyde monster.
However, in another twist, it ends up being a wolfed-out Enid who manages to overpower Tyler in the end.
After this show-down, Tyler is taken into custody for his role in the death of six people, but before the police van even manages to reach the prison, Tyler transforms into the Hyde monster once again and breaks his chains, but it is still undertermined whether he escapes.
Fans of the show are curious to see what his future role will be on the show, and whether he will continue on his quest to find out more about what happened to his mother.
Who is Wednesday’s stalker?
After all is said and done, Wednesday’s foe-turned-friend, Xavier gives her a cell phone so that they can stay in touch while Nevermore Academy is closed.
However, as soon as Wednesday leaves the school, she receives messages with photos of her in various locations from an unknown number.
It is clear that even though Laurel and Tyler had been defeated, someone is still watching Wednesday’s every move, and fans want to know who this could be.
