What happened to Christie Dutton after leaving WAVE 3?

Christie Dutton is a well-known broadcast meteorologist who gained popularity on WAVE 3 News, where she worked for eight years before opting for a more reclusive life.

Dutton graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1999, she also obtained a Broadcast Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University.

Dutton began her career as a news reporter and also worked in the Hopkinsville, Kentucky market early in her career.

Dutton joined FOX19 in June 2007. News Director at the time, Steven Ackermann stated, “She wants to know why the weather happens so she can tell our viewers what is going to happen. She uses every tool at her disposal to craft the most accurate forecast available.”

Dutton joined FOX19 Morning News the week of 25 June 2007. She filled the void created when Paul Horton was promoted to Chief Meteorologist.

“Christie has proven to be a big success in the mornings, combining her cheerful personality with an incredibly dynamic and knowledgeable weather presentation and I believe we have found just the right personality to continue growing the FOX19 Morning News,” says Ackermann. Dutton left FOX19 in August 2008.

She joined WAVE 3 News in June 2009 as a broadcast meteorologist. Dutton analyzed raw atmospheric data to transform scientific information into an audience centric forecast for live television, radio, social media and company websites.

WAVE 3 is the NBC television station located in Louisville, Kentucky. It has been owned by Raycom Media since 2006 to the present day. WAVE began broadcasting in November 1948 and it was Kentucky’s first television station. Dutton was part of the weekday mornings show, WAVE 3 Sunrise. 

She left WAVE 3 in August 2017 to become the Director of Public Affairs at Kentucky Association of Counties. She currently serves as the director.

Dutton obtained several licenses and certificates throughout her time as a broadcast meteorologist, including the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval, Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval and the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.

Fans of Christie Dutton have realized that she has not been active on Twitter since 2018 and Facebook since January 2020.

She has a private Instagram account with numerous followers. It is assumed that Instagram is the only social media platform that she still uses.
