Money Heist’s fifth season is currently in production in Madrid, after filming was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, subsequently delaying the premiere date.
Money Heist’s fifth and final season was expected to premiere on Netflix in August 2020, as announced by the streaming platform in early 2020. As fans waited in anticipation for the culmination of the Spanish criminal drama, they were soon informed that season five would be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. With production having stopped, the series was unable to complete integral scenes for the new season, causing for the premiere date to move to late 2021.
Whilst Netflix hasn’t revealed the exact premiere date, The Sun reported that the Money Heist cast and crew are currently filming in Madrid. This suggests that the season will be ready by late 2021. Netflix has also revealed that there will be new actors joining the show, including Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Patrick Criado. The final season of the series is expected to be filled with far more drama that the previous seasons, as the show’s creator, Alex Pina, revealed to the media that the production has attempted to give each character a fair and fitting ending.
