Why did Amy Carlson leave Blue Bloods?

Amy Carlson’s exit from Blue Bloods came as a shock to loyal fans, who were outraged by the fact that her horrific death was not even shown on camera.

Amy Carlson, who appeared on CBS’ Blue Bloods, exited the long-running series in 2018 when her character, Linda, tragically died in a helicopter crash that was not shown on camera. After appearing on the critically acclaimed series since its first season, the actress was left with mixed feelings, much like the audience, after her character was written off the show.

Linda Reagan, the wife of Danny Reagan and mother of Jack and Sean, worked as an ER nurse at St. Victor’s Hospital in New York City. The character was a crucial part of the main storyline throughout her run, but was suddenly killed in a helicopter crash that was not shown on camera and not referenced in any prior episode.

In a 2018 interview with Deadline, Amy stated, “I feel badly that she dies the way she dies, I did not know they would do that, I was surprised. I wouldn’t have done that. I would have shown the death. I guess it would’ve been nice for the fans to see her demise, to be a participant in it, and that was my vote for the fans.” The actress also confirmed that she was not included in any of the decision-making on how her character would be written off.
