Why did Blue Ivy win a Grammy?

Blue Ivy won her first Grammy at the 2021 awards ceremony, as she was credited as a featured artist on Brown Skin Girl, which won under the Best Music Video category.

Blue Ivy has followed in the footsteps of her multi-award-winning parents, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, by taking home a Grammy Award at the 2021 ceremony which took place in March. The nine-year-old is noted as the second-youngest Grammy Award winner, after Brown Skin Girl won under the Best Music Video category. Blue Ivy is featured on her mother’s song, alongside SAINt JHN and Wizkid.

Upon accepting the award, Beyoncé made mention of Blue Ivy, who was watching the ceremony live from their home. She stated, “I know my daughter is watching, Blue, congratulations – she won a Grammy tonight. I’m so proud of you. I’m so honoured to be your mommy, all of your mommies. [You all] are my babies.” Thereafter, the proud mother took to Instagram to share images from the night, concluding with visuals of Blue Ivy posing with the Grammy and using a straw to sip out of the top.
