Why did Burnie leave Rooster Teeth?

Burnie Burns announced his resignation as Chief Executive Officer of Rooster Teeth in June 2020, claiming to want to work creatively as an executive producer on other projects.

Burnie Burns is the co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Rooster Teeth, which is a video production company based in Austin, Texas. The company was founded in 2013 alongside Joel Heyman, Geoff Ramsey, Gus Sorola and Matt Hullum. In June 2020, Burnie took to Twitter to announce his resignation, and shared a link to his new self-titled website.

The website features a blog post from Burnie, stating, “As I set out on this new journey with my family and two cats at my side, that means my time walking the halls here at Rooster Teeth has come to an end. As some of you have predicted over the past year, my steady move away from a public life was in preparation for this change.”

He went on to explain that his departure has also stemmed from his family’s desire to emigrate to another country, however, he did not stipulate where. He also shared that he has been working on creating projects which he hopes can be developed by his former company, Rooster Teeth.
