Why did Busy Philipps move to New York?

Busy Philipps is a well-known American actress who relocated to New York City after experiencing multiple health issues in Los Angeles, suspected to be due to the coastal climate.

Busy Philipps officially made the move to New York from Los Angeles (LA) in the second half of 2020, after she expressed her dislike for California. Whilst LA proved beneficial for her career, it took a toll on her and her family’s health, as they were unable to climatise to the coastal state. In a November 2020 interview with Shondaland, the actress stated that she had gone to New York with her family, comprising her screenwriter husband, Marc Silverstein, and their daughters, Birdie and Cricket, for three weeks and realised that they were in much better health in the new state.

She stated, “I don’t know one fu*king person in Los Angeles who doesn’t have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It’s why we all give up gluten and wheat, but maybe it’s the toxicity of the city. I don’t know, just a theory. When the fires started again this year, I just had this real lightning bolt moment where I turned to Marc and said, ‘We have to leave. We have to go to clean air.’”

After two weeks in the city, Busy received a call from Tina Fey, offering her a part in her new Peacock show, Girls5Eva. As fate would have it, Busy’s move suited her both personally and professionally, allowing her to thrive in all aspects of her life.

Busy Philipps is a well-known American actress who has appeared in television and movie productions such as I Feel Pretty, Cougar Town, Dawson’s Creek and White Chicks. She was reportedly born in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and spent most of her early life in the state with her family. Once she began acting, she believed it would be best for her to move to Los Angeles, as there would be more career opportunities for her. In the late 90s, her move to Los Angles proved fruitful, as she began booking feature roles in large productions, which helped her gain fame as a serious actress.
