Why did Dancing With The Stars change hosts?

DWTS changed its hosts and set for the twenty-ninth season of the show, with the reason for the change cited as the need to evolve.

One of ABC’s popular shows, Dancing With The Stars, revealed a new host ahead of its most recent season. The show announced that co-hosts, Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, would be replaced by supermodel-turned-television mogul, Tyra Banks.

Tom had been part of the show, which just wrapped its twenty-ninth season, since 2005, and Erin had been Tom’s co-host since 2014. When the announcement was made, both co-hosts took to their social media platforms to assure fans that their departure was amicable.

One of the executive producers of the show, Andrew Llinares, also addressed the matter. He stated, “Any show like this that has been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve. It was all about making the show feel fresh and new and appeal to both old and new fans.”
