Why did Days Of Our Lives recast Chanel?

Days Of Our Lives recently confirmed that Chanel Dupree has been recast, as Precious Way has confirmed her exit to pursue another role.

Days Of Our Lives is an American television daytime soap opera on NBC. It is one of the longest-running television programs in the world, as it has aired nearly every weekday since 8 November 1965. The series focuses on its core families, the Bradys and the Hortons in a town called Salem. Over the years, several other families have been added to the cast and many of them still appear on the show.

Days Of Our Lives fans are divided on how they feel about Chanel Dupree, as she is always stirring up drama and is described as a troublemaker. Some viewers feel that she is too much trouble and they do not like how the character blackmailed her own mother. Then there was the drama of her targeting Claire Brady, played by Isabel Durant, as she tried to skip out on an expensive champagne tab. Despite her scandals and scams, Chanel does not seem to be going anywhere. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the actress who portrays her.

The producers revealed that Precious Way is on her way out of the show. She currently plays Chanel Dupree, the trouble-making daughter of Paulina Price, played by Jackee Harry. Many fans hate to lose Way in the part, but recasts are often necessary in the soapie world as characters grow older. Raven Bowens assumed the role of Paulina’s daughter on 1 April 2021, and will first appear as Chanel on Tuesday, 6 July 2021.

Fans can expect Chanel to continue to be a force to be reckoned with in Salem, as she will be in a love triangle with Allie and Johnny, despite Allie being torn between Chanel and Tripp. Moreover, the two friends are opening up a bakery, Sweet Bits. Then, there is the hot and cold relationship between Chanel and her mother. Chanel will also be causing trouble with Eli Grant, played by Lamon Archey, and Lani Price Grant, played by Sal Stowers.

Precious Way has since been cast alongside rap superstar, MC Lyte, in a new sitcom, Partners In Rhyme, which is believed to be the reason behind her departure from Days Of Our Lives.
