Why did Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich break up?

Demi Lovato has opened up about her broken engagement to Max Ehrich, claiming that he used her for self-promotion and that their relationship was false advertising.

Demi and Max began dating in March 2020. They got engaged four months later, but eventually split in September 2020.

According to People, the decision was tough to make, but they both decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers.

There are some events that led to their split; it all started when Max’s old tweets resurfaced on 12 September 2020.

It looked like Max had spent a lot of time thirsting after other celebrities, including Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande, prior to meeting Demi. Max also allegedly has several Selena-themed tattoos.

On 13 September 2020, Demi took to Instagram and claimed that some of Max’s alleged old tweets pitting her against Gomez were completely false.

An E! source allegedly said that Demi was really upset when she discovered Max’s old tweets. People close to her also expressed their concerns and were sceptical about Max.

The source also stated, “She is head over heels for Max and doesn’t want to be heartbroken. She truly cares about Max and wants to think his intentions are genuine.”

Shortly thereafter, both People and E! News claimed that the two had called things off. Neither Max nor Demi confirmed the reports, but Demi shared a mirror selfie on Instagram without her engagement ring on.

According to Us Weekly, Max’s self-promotion was an issue. A source allegedly shared that Max was super careful about self-promotion in the beginning, but once they got engaged, he really hit the gas pedal and wanted to make the most out of his career opportunities.

Max took to social media to explain the situation after the split, claiming that he even reached out to Demi but she did not want anything to do with him.

She has had so many issues with Max not wanting to leave her alone that she has reportedly involved her lawyers.

Demi has not spoken publicly about Max, but she released a song, Still Have Me, which fans assume is about Max and the sticky situation.

Demi addressed her confusing engagement to Max Ehrich, as well as their sudden decision to split, in her new documentary, Dancing With The Devil.
