Why did Emma leave Bunk’d?

Peyton List, who portrayed Emma Ross in Bunk’d, quit after season three, stating that she has aged out of children’s shows.

Bunk’d is an American comedy television series that premiered on the Disney Channel in July 2015. It is a spin-off of Jessie, and stars Peyton List, Skai Jackson and Karan Brar, in the first three seasons.

Emma Ross, portrayed by Peyton, is one of the three main protagonists of the show. During the early seasons, Ross was training to become a camp counsellor, but eventually became manager of the camp in season three.

Although she got the job she wanted, she always showed interest in fashion throughout the show. In the season three finale, Ross announced that she was moving to Italy, as she wanted to become a supermodel for her mother’s clothing line.

Season four of Bunk’d premiered in June 2019, and did not feature Emma Ross. It was established that the character’s story would come to an end after season three, as Peyton decided to quit the show.

Fans were curious to know why Peyton decided to quit Bunk’d. In a 2018 Instagram post promoting her new fashion line, the actress was asked about her character leaving the show.

Peyton replied to the comment, stating, “I have aged out of children’s shows. I love all those people from the show so much. They are and always will be my family.” Adding, “Everyone grows up and starts new projects.”

After leaving Bunk’d and the Disney Channel completely, List starred in The Thinning: New World Order, as well as Then Came You. List also made her singing debut with the single Liar Liar in late 2018.

In 2020, Peyton also featured in the musical film, Valley Girl, and in the Netflix comedy, Hubie Halloween. She has recently been cast in the film Shiver, as well as in American Boogeywoman. Both films’ release dates have yet to be confirmed.

Peyton List made a guest appearance in season five of Bunk’d, as Emma experienced an accident in Milan, which led her to seeking comfort in a place she once called home.

In an interview with People, List stated, “I am realizing now that I am always going to be known as that character.” Adding, “I did not realize what it was in the moment, and now it is just kind of insane how big of a role that character played in my entire life.”
