The Real Housewives of Dallas cast member, LeeAnne Locken, announced that she would be leaving the show due to personal reasons, however, many have speculated that it was because of her recent controversy.
The Real Housewives of Dallas’ (RHOD) original cast member, LeeAnne Locken, announced in February 2021 that she would be leaving the show, following months of backlash after an episode aired that showed her allegedly being racist. Her comments were targeted at fellow castmate, Kary Brittingham, whom she accused of wanting to keep up a rough and dangerous Mexican image when she forced the rest of the team to visit the Red-Light District whilst in Bangkok. LeeAnne went on to racially profile Kay and claimed that she was attempting to drug the other women, suggesting that it is what Mexicans are capable of.
Immediately after the episode aired, LeeAnne released a statement on Twitter and apologised for her actions and utterances. She stated, “It was never my intention to hurt anyone, and I will use this as a learning experience to be more aware of my comments in the future.” Fans of the show did not accept her apology, which led to her stepping down from her role as one of the leading ladies.
Whilst LeeAnne claimed that her departure was due to personal reasons, it is suspected that she left because of the continuous backlash she was receiving.
