Why did Liv Tyler leave 911?

Liv Tyler reportedly asked 911 producers to write her off the show because she would not be able to commute between London and Los Angeles amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Liv Tyler announced in September 2020 that she would not be returning to Fox’s 911: Lone Star for its second season, which premiered in January 2021. The actress, who played Michelle Blake, was written out of the storyline, despite her being an integral part of the paramedic drama. Showrunner, Tim Minear, released a statement in September thanking Liv for her contribution to the launch of the show during season one.

He stated, “We loved working with Liv and will be forever indebted to her for her haunting, powerful portrayal of Michelle Blake. While we were able to tell a complete chapter in Michelle’s story, as with Connie Britton on our mothership, we also feel like there are more stories to be told. The door here will always be open for a return.”

Deadline reported that Liv had informed the production that she wished to be written out of the show because she had no intention of commuting between London and Los Angeles amid the coronavirus pandemic. Writers were understanding of her reasoning and ensured that her character exited in a way that left room for a possible return.
