Marwani from 9-1-1: Lone Star left station 126 because she could not contradict her own morals and promote a greedy couple on her Instagram to save her career.
Marjan Marwani has been an integral part of station 126 and 9-1-1: Lone Star since she joined the station in the first episode of the series.
However, she left the station in the fourth season of the show. Marwani did this because she was forced to question her own conviction after coming head-to-head with a greedy couple.
Who is Marjan Marwani?
Marjan Marwani, who is portrayed by Natacha Karam, was first introduced to fans of 9-1-1: Lone Star as a plucky young fire fighters.
She was on of the few that Captain Strand hand-selected for his team at the newly-rebuilt station 126 in the first episode of the show.
As the seasons went on, fans of the show got to see Marwani transform from a shallow social media influencer, into a feisty and determined female Muslim fire fighter.
At one point, she stepped in front of a wrecking ball in order to prevent station 126 from being destroyed… again. Moreover, she even saved Captain Strand’s life in the third season of the show.
Why did Marwani leave 9-1-1: Lone Star?
There is no denying that station 126 probably would not even have survived until the fourth season if she had not interfered in the previous season.
However, Marwani may have just encountered her toughest fight yet in the most recent episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star.
In this episode, titled “Human Resources” Marwani had to confront her own sense of purpose when a call that she responded to earlier in the season put her career at risk.
During this call, Marwani called a woman “crazy” over her radio when she was trying to rescue the woman from inside a moving mobile home.
Now, this woman is claiming that Marwani had made her feel unsafe during this call and she was demanding an apology.
Marwani obliged immediately and apologised. However, it turns out that the couple wanted more than just an apology and insisted that Marwani post a link to their GoFundMe campaign from her viral “Firefox” Instagram account.
However, Marwani felt uneasy about promoting such greedy people to her millions of followers.
In the end, Marwani decided that she could not go against her own morals in an attempt to go along with the firehouse politics.
She resigned from the 126 after the fire department heads would not support her decision. She also proceeded to expose the couple for their greed in a video posted on her Instagram account, instead.
After a teary goodbye, Marwani left Austin on her new journey to figure out whether she should continue being a fire fighter, or find a new calling. Fortunately, Natacha Karam has confirmed that this is not the end of the road for her character just yet.
Will Marwani ever come back to the 126?
9-1-1: Lone Star has gotten rid of other prominent characters on the series in the past, but this time fans will get to go along with Marwani as she travels outside of Austin.
However, Natacha Karam has warned fans that although Marwani’s journey to rediscover her calling will not be uneventful, it will not be quickly resolved. Natacha Karam predicts that Marwani will not return to Austin until much later in the season.
Did Natacha Karam know that Marwani would be leaving the 126 in this episode?
Fans may have been shocked when the usually self-assured Marwani started turning in on herself in this most recent episode and left the 126, but this news did not come as such a shock to Natacha Karam.
She confirmed that Tim Minear, the creator of the show did call beforehand her to tell her that although the script seemingly wrote her out of the series, they did not plan to fire her just yet.
What will happen to Marwani’s character moving forward?
Fortunately, it has been confirmed that although Marwani will be off travelling on her own for most of the season, her resignation and tearful goodbye are not the last that fans will see of the character.
Natacha Karam has explained that just because Marwani has left the 126 in a professional capacity, it does not mean that she has left her friends’ lives completely.
Fans can expect to see plenty of video calls and updates from Marwani in future episodes of the show, and she might even make a special appearance at TK and Carlos’ wedding.
However, it will be interesting to see how the group’s dynamics shift when she is just their friend and no longer a fellow fire fighter.
