Why did Omari Hardwick leave Power?

Omari Hardwick bid farewell to his lead role on Starz’s popular crime drama, Power, in October 2020, where he assumed the role of James “Ghost” St. Patrick.

Omari Hardwick’s character on Starz’s Power, James “Ghost” St. Patrick, died in the final season, ultimately concluding the show on a cliffhanger. Fans of the show were shocked to see that he had been killed off in a brutal shooting, which indicated that there was no possibility of him returning to the show, in case of a reunion. With Power centring around Omari’s character and his dangerous role in the drug industry, showrunner, Courtney Kemp, claimed that there were only two ways of ending the series, killing Ghost or having him go to jail.

In an interview with Variety in October 2020, Courtney explained that she was happy with how the series ended, as it was a realistic outcome for a notorious drug dealer. Omari also reportedly commented on his departure from the show and was content with his character’s exit. However, he claimed that he would not have minded if Ghost was killed off in an earlier season.
