Supermodel, Gigi Hadid replaced Chrissy Teigen on the Netflix series, Never Have I Ever, after Teigen admitted to bullying television personality, Courtney Stodden on social media.
The second season of Never Have I Ever premiered on Thursday, 15 July 2021. As many fans know, the show loves a good narrator, as the tennis legend, John McEnroe was cast as Devi Vishwakumar’s inner voice in the first season, while Jaren Lewison narrated Ben’s inner voice. With the premiere of the second season, fans discovered that the series chose model, Gigi Hadid to narrate Paxton, subsequently replacing Chrissy Teigen.
This comes after Chrissy Teigen, who was initially cast to voice Paxton, decided to leave the show in June 2021. Chrissy had been surrounded by controversies since May 2021, after television personality, Courtney Stodden claimed that Teigen had repeatedly harassed and bullied her on social media in 2011. Teigen later apologized to Stodden in a series of tweets, claiming that she was ashamed and completely embarrassed about her past behaviour.
Teigen recently took to Instagram to share her struggles with her mental health, stating, “I do not really know what to say here, just feels so weird to pretend that nothing happened in this online world but I feel like utter s*&$t in real life. Going outside sucks and does not feel right, being at home alone with my mind makes my depressed head race. I feel lost and I need to find my place again.”
Netflix kept the new narrator, Gigi Hadid, a secret until the show’s premiere. Viewers can now listen to Hadid in the third episode of the second season, “Never Have I Ever Opened A Textbook.” Hadid discusses Paxton’s struggles, from a broken heart to how difficult life can be with a symmetrical face. The model explained in the episode that she was once in Paxton’s shoes, stating, “Believe it or not, I relate to this kid. We are both constantly underestimated because people only see us as sex symbols.”
Season two of Never Have I Ever is streaming on Netflix.
