Archer season 14 has yet to be confirmed as fans of the animation are still waiting for the confirmed but yet to air thirteenth season.
Archer is the FXX flagship animated series that has had fans in stitches since it first premiered on FX in 2009.
With 12 seasons to date, the animated series is premised as, “Covert black ops and espionage take a back seat to zany personalities and relationships between secret agents and drones.”
The thirteenth season of Archer is yet to air, despite the fact that it was confirmed in 2021. As a result, whether or not there will be a fourteenth season is currently unknown.
The upcoming season will mark the first season after the departure of Malory Archer from the show during the season 12 finale.
Why did Malory Archer leave Archer?
Acclaimed actress, Jessica Walters, was the voice behind the matriarch and head of the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), Malory Archer. The actress had been part of the animated series since its inception in 2009.
In season 12, after Malory saves Archer from kidnappers and ISIS is acquired by the International Intelligence Agency (IIA), she disappears.
She then leaves Archer a note stating that she is stepping down as spymaster of ISIS. Her exit was as a result of her passing in March 2021. By that time, she had completed most of her voice-over work for that season.
Will there be a season 14 of Archer?
Archer’s television journey has not been smooth sailing. While the animated series was a hit when it first premiered on FX in 2009, later seasons of the animated series saw a drop in viewership numbers.
Hence the series, fronted by H. Jon Benjamin who plays Sterling Archer, was moved from FX to FXX. This move saw an increase in viewership numbers between seasons 10 and 11, which, in turn, secured a twelfth season renewal for Archer.
The twelfth season of Archer aired on FXX between August 2021 and October 2021, as an eight-episode season. FXX did not waste time confirming the renewal of its flagship show for a thirteenth season, as the announcement was made in September 2021.
However, since the end of season 12, no further news on the premise or release date of season 13 has been released.
In light of the lack of clarity regarding season 13, and the consideration that the upcoming season will mark the non-return of Malory Archer following Jessica Walters’ passing in March 2021.
FXX might hold off on announcing whether there is a fourteenth season or not, until it has an opportunity to gauge how fans take to the thirteenth season.
Throughout its 12-season run, Archer has explored so many alternate universes, space, and the inside of the human body, the question is whether there is enough material for a fourteenth season.
FXX officials on Archer season 13
When Archer was renewed for its thirteenth season, Nick Grad, FX’s President of Original Programming, was quoted as saying, “Archer remains one of FX’s signature series and we are happy to extend its legacy with another globetrotting season.”
Grad went on to add, “Like Sterling Archer himself, Adam Reed, Matt Thompson, Casey Willis, and the entire team at Floyd County Productions are endlessly creative and always find a way to surpass themselves. Our thanks to them and the incredible voice cast who keep this fan favourite spy comedy as fresh and exciting as ever.”
When can we expect Archer season 14?
Since season 13 of Archer still does not have an official release date, it is assumed that as the television and film industry adapt to the new post-COVID19 normal, broadcasters in 2022 are attempting to create standardised release dates of flagship shows like they did in the past.
Therefore, if season 12 aired between August and October of 2021, we can potentially speculate an August to October 2022 season 13 run. If this is proven to be true, it may be safe to assume that season 14 of Archer will air between August and October 2023.
Who is in Archer season 14?
Due to the fact that season 13 of Archer’s release date is unconfirmed, no clear details are known about who would return if the series was renewed for a fourteenth season.
Currently, it is believed that the show’s original cast members are returning for season 13, except Jessica Walters, as Malory Archer is retiring in the story.
It is also safe to say that if they do renew Archer for season 14, the original cast members would return to their characters. These actors include H.
Jon Benjamin as Archer, Judy Greer as Cheryl Tunt, Aisha Tyler as Lana Kane, Chris Parnell as Cyril Figgis, and Amber Nash as Pam Poovey.
