It is reported that Letterkenny is based on the small Canadian town called Listowel, Ontario, and its surrounding areas.
Listowel is a small town where Keeso was born. He wanted to capture that experience by drawing inspiration from his hometown, where the phrases such as skids, degens and hicks really did exist.
While Keeso was not a hick, he wanted to showcase the fact, hence his portrayal of Wayne and the other main characters playing archetypes from his childhood.
