Chucky: Was Good Chucky faking it?

Chucky: Was Good Chucky faking it?

Even though Good Chucky was not faking it in the beginning just after his brainwashing, he did glitch out and become more evil later on.

The Chucky series has really picked up steam now, close to the end of its second season, and fans love the combination of old and new elements in the show.

One of the best things about the second season of the show has been the introduction of multiple Chucky dolls, including Good Chucky, who was genuinely brainwashed to be good for a while, but started to glitch out and had to fake his goodness later on.

Is the Chucky series worth the watch?

The Chucky series, which was created for Syfy and USA Network, first aired in 2021, and although fans of the Child’s Play franchise were initially unsure about the direction of the series, now that the second season has been released, more and more people are starting to genuinely enjoy the show.

So far, most of the positive reviews for this series have mentioned the fact that the show strikes the perfect balance between including enough of the original show’s characters and Easter eggs from the Child’s Play franchise to make it feel familiar.

The series also adds new elements that keep audiences on their toes.

Chucky: Was Good Chucky faking it?

During the second season of Chucky, the show introduces multiple different Chucky dolls, each with its own personality and backstory.

One of these Chucky dolls is nicknamed Good Chucky after the group brainwashes him by overloading his senses and breaking his psyche by forcing him to watch violent movies.

Afterward, Good Chucky becomes ill at the sight of violence or death and later, the group even baptises him to get rid of the evil spirit of Charles Lee Ray for good.

However, while Nadine and Jake seem to believe that all of this brainwashing has worked and that Good Chucky no longer has any evil inside of him, Devon and Lexy are not as certain. Later in the episode, it becomes clear that his brainwashing has worn off.

In reality, Good chucky really was Good Chucky for a while, like during his fight with Buff Chucky, however, at some point the brainwashing did wear off and he no longer feels nauseous when he kills a fly, not to mention Nadine’s horrible fate at the end of the episode.

From this, it is clear that although Good Chucky was not faking in the beginning, he did overcompensate and try to hide the fact that the brainwashing was wearing off and that he was glitching later on.

What proves that Good Chucky was actually good?

There are a few instances from shortly after the brainwashing ritual that prove that Good Chucky was genuinely good for a while and that he was not just faking this all along.

The first instance of him proving that he genuinely was good was in the fight with Buff Chucky, where he defended his friends and genuinely seemed to believe what he was saying throughout their discussion.

Good Chucky’s genuine concern about the fact that he may still have some evil left inside of him, before these fears come true is also an indication that he really was good for a while, since Chucky would not reiterate these fears to Jake and the others if he was trying to trick them.

Early signs that Good Chucky was not so good anymore and has started faking it

The first clear indication that Good Chucky’s brainwashing has worn off and that he is returning to his evil self only happens later in the season when Chucky kills a fly and does not vomit at the sight of the death.

Devon witnesses this and voices his fears that Good Chucky may not be as good anymore, but these fears are brushed to the side as they are preparing to take on the Colonel.

Good Chucky also gives Lexy pills, which may seem sweet on the surface since they are prescription pills but given Lexy’s history and the end of episode six, this may be enough to push her over the edge.

What can you expect for the next episode?

Even though the sixth episode of the second season of Chucky managed to tie and bring together many different plotlines that had been drawn throughout the season, the seventh episode is even more dramatic.

During this second to last episode of the season, the entire group prepares for an exorcism. There is also a sweet moment between Nica and Andy where they connect over their shared trauma and scenes of Lexy trying to deal with Nadine’s death throughout.
