Manifest: Why did Eagan marry Angelina?

Manifest: Why did Eagan marry Angelina?

In Manifest, Eagan only married Angelina because he knew that this was the only way that he could convince her to keep him around as a member of her group.

Manifest has always been filled with unexpected twists and turns. But Eagan’s decision to propose to and marry Angelina so close to the death date, was clearly just his last-ditch effort to earn his place as a member in her group of chosen ones.

Manifest: Why did Eagan marry Angelina?

By this stage, you should already know to expect the unexpected in Manifest, especially when it comes to morally dubious characters like Angelina and Eagan.

However, even so, very few Manifest fans expected Eagan not only to propose to Angeline, but to slap-dash marry her in the “Lift/Drag” episode.

It is pretty obvious that his proposal and their subsequent, short-lived marriage, was just a poorly veiled attempt on Eagan’s part to get into Angelina’s good graces.

This is in an attempt to be chosen as one of the eight people who would supposedly get to witness the end of the world.

Eagan was definitely an outsider, even when it came to Angelina’s cult of outsiders. And whilst he may have told Angelina that he did not want to be alone, it is much more likely that he meant he did not want to be the one to die.

Eagan was backed into a corner

At this point in the show, everyone knew that Angelina’s group had one too many people to fulfill the prophecy.

And after Autumn has spent most of this episode trying to convince Angelina that Eagan should be the one to go, he definitely needed a big stunt to entice Angelina to keep him around.

Chances are, Eagan knew that proposing to Angelina would be his last chance to get an in with her and become one of her chosen souls.

How did Eagan get Angelina to accept his proposal?

Though Eagan’s proposal was a very obvious last-minute bid for him to save his life, but he did not go into this proposal completely unprepared.

When Angelina left the room just before announcing that she would need to narrow down her group, Eagan read through her diary briefly.

He then cleverly snuck  some of her own words into his proposal, which is likely what won Angelina over in the end.

Did Eagan have real feelings for Angelina?

Eagan and Angelina have both been some of the most hated characters in Manifest, and while it may be tempting to imagine that these two have some sort of unlikely underdog bond, this is simply not true.

Without giving too much away, Eagan certainly proves in the season finale episode that he never had real feelings for Angelina.
