Amber from The A List has had an interesting two-season journey which has still not explained whether she is human, what she is, and where she comes from.
Netflix has been on a winning streak when it comes to the teen dramas that the streaming service has produced in the past few years.
This includes British dramas, one of which is The A List, which returned with its second season after the cliffhanger in the 2018 season premiere.
This is as it was revealed that Midge was alive and that she is also a separate entity from Amber.
Although the second season focused on the dichotomy of the two characters as separate entities, it did not fully explain Amber’s existence and what she is if she is not human.
The dichotomy between Midge and Amber
By the end of season one, the mystery about what happened to Midge was revealed as it was confirmed that she was presumed dead after she fell off the cliff.
But in actuality, she was discovered and experimented on and injected with amonisine, the mythical chemical from Peregrine Island.
As such, she had entered Amber’s body after Amber was injected with an experimental drug meant to kill her off, which only separated Amber and Midge. The big question was, who is the evil one between the two?
The A List: Amber
Season two of The A List started with Mia returning to Peregrine Island after being saved with Harry and Pedal. They are the only three that were not affected by Midge’s mind-controlling powers.
While others were kept on the land in quarantine, at the beginning of the second season, the biggest question was who the actual villain was between Amber and Midge.
This is as Midge was allegedly the misunderstood loner who was not bullied but overlooked in the first season. Amber, on the other hand, was an unknown entity.
Therefore, it seemed that Amber was the real villain. But as the second season played out, we learned that Midge was the actual antagonist as it was revealed that she died and tried to use Mia’s friends’ energies to keep her alive.
Amber, on the other hand, who is clearly not human, worked with Mia and her friends to free them from Midge and the strange island chemical’s influence.
However, while it has been confirmed that Amber is not human, it does seem that following her separation from Mia, she started feeling real human emotions.
Therefore, one of the biggest questions for the third season is where Amber is from and how Midge came to inhibit her body. However, with Netflix yet to confirm the third season of The A List, we may never find out what Amber really is.
Can the bubbling explain Amber’s origins?
Midge was presumed dead after she gave in to her own death as the aminosine chemical tree was destroyed by Mia’s friends in season two of The A List.
However, the series seemed to have suggested that this only resulted in the source of the chemical being underwater and bubbling to the surface after the tree’s destruction, which suggested that Mia may not be dead at all.
Therefore, if the series returns for a third season, could this unexplored world reveal Amber’s origin story and what she actually is?
Who is The A List’s villain: Amber or Midge?
The events of The A List’s first season positioned Amber as the villain, while Midge was just the girl who suffered greatly during her last year alive at the Peregrine camp.
However, after she emerged as alive at the end of season one, season two’s biggest cliffhanger was based on who the real villain is between the two previously intertwined entities.
But season two made it clear that Midge was the titled antagonist of the series before she died after learning that she and Mia are blood sisters when she pricked her finger during their confrontation.
What is Amber’s character arc in season three?
Seeing as season three of The A List has yet to be confirmed, the following is purely based on the events of the first two seasons of the show.
Now that Amber has started feeling human emotions as she assisted in Midge and the aminosine tree’s destruction, it is safe to assume that the upcoming season will focus on Amber coming to terms with her growing human feelings.
Moreover, it will be interesting to see if her feelings for Devon are explored fully or if she will be given a new love interest, because what is good teen drama if the lead characters do not get a happy romantic ending at the end of it all.
