Indigo (also known as April), Versace’s girlfriend on First Wives Club, is played by the Marvel break-out star, Yssa Mei Panganiban.
Season three of Tracy Oliver’s First Wives Club started with a bang – or rather, an aneurysm. But in letting go of one of its most beloved cast members, First Wives Club also made space for a few new characters to make their marks.
And if you are all caught up on season three’s recent developments, you will already know that this includes a rather unexpected new addition to Versace’s love life.
All about Versace’s new girlfriend
While Versace may not technically be part of First Wives Club’s epic core-friendship, she has been involved in just about every over-the-top scheme that the group has dreamed up since the first season.
She has also made quite the impression as possibly the best step-daughter ever to be portrayed on television.
But even so, Versace (who is played by Tara Pacheco) managed to keep herself out of the kind of complicated romantic entanglements that Bree, Ari and even her step-mother, Hazel were involved in throughout the first few seasons of the series.
That is, of course, until she stumbled upon April (who also goes by Indigo) at Hazel’s wedding in the first episode of season three.
And though it initially seemed like April (Indigo), who is portrayed by the talented Filipina actor, Yssa Mei Panganiban, may be too much even for the witty and scrappy Versace to handle – they pretty much ended this most recent season wrapped in each other’s arms.
So we suspect that we will be seeing even more of this new couple if the show does return for another season.
Yssa Mei Panganiban’s run on First Wives Club
Panganiban may be one of the First Wives Club cast’s newest additions, but she has already appeared in a handful of episodes.
And if the romance between April (Indigo) and Versace continues in future seasons, she may actually become a recurring cast member very soon.
For now though, Panganiban’s run on the series can be summarized as follows:
| Episode | Initial BET air date | Title |
| Season 3, episode 1 | May 31, 2023 | “You Can’t Hurry Love” |
| Season 3, episode 4 (though technically only a photo of Panganiban is shown in this episode) | June 21, 2023 | “Ain’t it Peculiar” |
| Season 3, episode 6 | July 5, 2023 | “Ask the Lonely” |
| Season 3, episode 10 | August 2, 2023 | “Dancing in the Streets” |
So, is it April or Indigo?
If you have been following along with the Versace April/Indigo romance since the beginning, you will already know that these two ladies have more in common than their fabulous androgynous wardrobes.
It turns out that April, who we later find out is actually named Indigo (though the show still credits Panganiban as ‘April aka Indigo’ in its end-credits) also works as a private investigator, just like Versace.
Although since Indigo was tasked with gathering information about Maxine prior to the big merger, we suspect that her private investigating might be slightly more legitimate than the sneaky photos that Versace has been taking for Jayla.
What’s next for Versace’s budding romance?
Versace and Indigo’s romance did not exactly have the smoothest of starts. But since they decided to get to know each other like a regular couple at the end of season three, it seems like they might just be able to make things work after all.
And if First Wives Club is renewed for a fourth season, there is an incredibly high chance that we may get to see them take the next step in their relationship quite soon.
This means that we might also get to hear a bit more about Indigo’s clearly out-there family.
Furthermore. there is also a chance that we could even see Versace and Indigo investigating a new case together, which should certainly be very entertaining to watch.
Other projects that you may have seen Yssa Mei Panganiban in
Though Panganiban is still fairly new to the Hollywood scene, she has already made quite a splash.
Not only has Panganiban become somewhat of an instant fan-favorite of First Wives Club’s third season, but she also set her career up for success early on by scoring a role in the Marvel cinematic Universe quite early on.
If you thought that Panganiban looked somewhat familiar after seeing her in her 2022 appearance in First Wives Club, it is likely because you recognized her from her role as ‘Sonya’ in the Hawkeye television series, in which she co-starred in 2021.
But she has also appeared in shows like Tangled, Intentions, NCIS: Los Angeles, All Rise, Vance, and Black Adam.
