Now that the shock of First Wives Club season three’s casting decisions has subsided, it is time to look into who might return to the show next season.
Season three of BET+’s hit show, First Wives Club has been a real rollercoaster ride.
There was certainly a whole lot that happened between the low-low of Ryan Michelle Bathe’s Ari passing away at the beginning of the season and the high-high of Jill Scott’s Hazel and Deborah Cox’s Regina winning their very first Grammy in the season finale.
First Wives Club’s season 4 renewal
Unfortunately, Tracy Oliver and the other higher-ups at BET+ have not announced any official plans to bring this series back for another season yet.
But given that there is just so much left to explore in the lives of our favorite now-trio of best friends’ lives – it would seem downright mean to cancel the series now.
We will not have any official news about which of the talented First Wives Club cast members will be returning for the show’s fourth season until the show is officially renewed.
But fortunately, season three’s finale episode may just give us some hints about where the characters (and their stories) will be heading if the show returns for another round.
Who we think will be returning for season 4
Hopefully, season four does not start out the way that season three did, and we will not have to say goodbye to another one of the show’s powerhouse leading ladies.
But since the main and recurring cast all seemed to be at a relatively stable place at the end of last season, we expect that most of the show’s cast members will return if it gets renewed. This includes:
| Cast member | Role |
| Michelle Buteau | Dr. Bree Washington |
| Jill Scott | Hazel Rachelle |
| Michelle Mitchenor | Jayla Wright |
| RonReaco Lee | Gary Washington |
| Mark Tallman | David Montgomery |
| Tobias Truvillion | Khalil |
| Bill Barrett | Jacob |
| Deborah Cox | Regina |
| Essence Atkins | Maxine |
| Tara Pacheco | Versace |
Bidding Ryan Michelle Bathe farewell
Perhaps one of the most heartbreaking turn of events this past season was saying goodbye to Bathe’s character, Ari.
Though the writing had been on the wall that Ari had been drifting away from the original First Wives Club trio for some time, there is no doubt that her departure has left a big hole in the show (and in our hearts).
Fortunately, Bathe’s unending talents have ensured that even though we may not be able to see more of her as Ari in First Wives Club, there are several other projects that you can enjoy whenever you need your Ryan Michelle Bathe-kick.
This includes her most recent film, Boy in the Walls (2023) and shows like The Endgame, which is an NBC crime thriller that debuted in 2022.
Who we will be seeing less of in season 4
First Wives Club may have started out focusing mostly on the busy lives of Bree, Hazel and Ari, but the series has now grown so much in the past three seasons, that there are tons of characters to keep track of now.
As result, there are a few characters that we expect to get a little less screen time in season four. Mostly, we are betting (probably more like hoping) that we will be seeing much less of Tyrell (played by Affion Crockett) complicating Jayla’s life in season four.
But now that Pam (portrayed by Terri J. Vaughn) has resigned from her babysitting duties and it seems like the entire Washington family may be leaving on a cross-country trip, we may be seeing much less of Bree, Gary and their kids in season four, as well.
Who we will probably be seeing more of in season four
Season three of First Wives Club certainly ended on a high note with songstresses, Regina and Hazel, re-igniting their partnership and celebrating their Grammy win.
We hope that this means that we will see more of these talented ladies in the next season (not to mention a few new original songs added to the show’s soundtrack). And it seems like there might be a few couples forming in the future as well.
In fact, even though David and Maxine decided that they were probably best off focusing on their relationships with their oh-so wealthy donors rather than their romance with each other in the season three finale, there is just no denying that they have some serious chemistry.
And we would venture that this is definitely not the last that we are going to see of this budding relationship on the show.
Furthermore, there is also a good chance that we will get to see more of Versace’s budding romance in season four.
